Things are running along very creatively at creativechickscafe "North". Fourth of July was awesome despite Marks eye surgery. A few of us chicks got together and stirred up a "North Country Boil". You've never heard of a "north country boil" well its a southern "low country boil" only up north. One of our favorite peeps Linda and her husband Al cook it for us each spring in the south. The ingredients are all placed in a boiling pot of seasoned water and cooked for about 20 minutes and then tossed out on several tables lined with butcher paper. Guests are invited to eat but not using utensils, you must use your fingers. Yes, that's right just pick up a piece and eat. Right when you think you've got it down, a whistle is blown and you need to proceed to a new table. But. . . you cannot be standing next to the people you were before. The idea is to meet new friends and new conversation. Pretty neat "huh". At first these "northerners" were pretty hesitant but soon they got in to the swing of it. You can find the full recipe under the creativechickscafe recipes section on this blog. Give us your feed back if you give it a try.
After a few days rest Thursdays open workshop was another big success. Mary worked on her ceramic wall hanging. She has finished cutting out all her pieces and now it is ready to dry. Her next step will be to sand each piece and then it will be kiln fired. After the kiln firing it will be ready to glaze.
Mosaic mosaic mosaics, yes everyone loves mosiacs. Kathy scultped a moon and is just about to finish it. Sheryl is close to being done with her ceramic frog Lori just has to grout hers along with Terri's "Queen of the Nile". Darlene's stepping stone is coming out awesome as well as Pam's.
The afternoon ended with great food, good wine, terrific conversation and lots of inspiration!
